Miniature Tree Fern (Maukurangi is maori name)

Blechnum fraserii is a very endearing variety – sometimes known as the Miniature Tree Fern due to its short, very thin, woody trunk which can reach up to 1m in height. Its dark green, jagged looking fronds can reach up to 40cm in length. Makes an interesting ground cover.
This variety can be difficult to establish but is well suited to warmer climates and dry, heavy, clay soil.
Difficult to grow from spore and not easliy to establish.
New Zealand native.
