Sorbus aucuparia

Latin name:
Sorbus aucuparia
Common name:
Rowan Tree, Mountain Ash
Keywords:
Rowan, Sorbus, Mountain ash

Mountain Ash or Rowan tree are the common names. This is an exotic from Europe that will grow to 6m tall x 4m wide so a nice specimen tree. Prune ealy to the shape you want then let it take care of itself

Leaves are a dull green but shiny and the margins of the leaf are slightly serrated going yellow in the Autumn. White flowers are produced in late Spring and these then convert to bright red fruit which are attractive to birds.

Leaves in Autumn are a feature.

Likes full sun and good free draining soil. A Mulch around the base will help any drying and stress on the tree - generally Sorbus like cooler climes.
