Marattia salicina - King fern

Marattia salicina - King fern
Latin name:
Marattia salicina
Common name:
King Fern (Para is maori name)
Keywords:
king fern, fern, marattia

The majestic King Fern is highly palatable to goats, pigs and deer so is sadly not as common in the wild as it once was. It has beautiful dark green fronds which can reach 3.5 – 4m in length. The plant forms increasing clumps and small plants will grow around the base which can be removed with a knife and replanted.
The King Fern needs shade, frost protection and constant moisture to look its best.
Hard to grow from spore.
Available in sizes from 3ltr to pb60 bags
