Dicksonia antarctica

Latin name:
Dicksonia antarctica
Common name:
Tasmanian tree fern
Keywords:
antartica, antarctica

This is a native of Australia and seldom found or grown in New Zealand (sorry we don't have any at the present time but we do have one in our Nursery and hope to grow some spore from it eventually!!). It is also called the Tasmanian tree fern and is found on that Island as well as other parts of Australia particularly Victoria.

Having said they are seldom seen in New Zealand I have at times seen them for sale as small plants in Garden Centres so if you do really want one pays to ask your local Garden Centre as they will have contact points and may find that Grower.

Its very similar in look and habit to the New Zealand Dicksonia fibrosa.
